Please return Paterson school board elections to April.
The Paterson City Council is set to vote on a resolution urging the commissioner of education, Kimberley Harrington, to move the Paterson school board elections back from November to April. The community must get behind the council in support of this move. It's important to keep partisan politics out of school board races. When people enter the voting booths during November elections to vote, the ballots are already inundated with several candidates looking to fill seats on the local, county, state and even federal levels. On top of all of that the voter must then pick school board members. By the time they are finished selecting other candidates they are ready to walk out of the booth. Placing the school board elections in April will mean that ONLY school members will be featured at the voting booth. That will give the public a clearer picture of who they are voting for without the assistance of any political machines or agendas. We need our school board elections to returned to the people. We need our school board to be returned to the people. Please sign and share this petition with as many Paterson residents as possible. Keep all "parties" out of local school board races.
